Preparation for the IDF

Recognizing the importance of meaningful military service, the program prepares participants through and the history of Israel’s wars, for their service in the IDF in three aspects:

הכנה לצבא וכושר גופני

Physical preparation and practical training

Weekly physical fitness training, treks, orienteering and an outdoor "survival week."

Informative preparation

The participants acquire much information about the IDF and the different positions that they can fill in their military service. Among other things, they meet with Nachshon alumni, hear about their experience of military service after the year’s program. They also learn about battle heritage and the history of Israel's wars, visit IDF bases, and meet current and former soldiers and commanders.

Mental preparation

During the ten months in Nachshon, the participants practice being away from home and their usual surroundings. Likewise, the different experiences provide them with an opportunity to get to know their ability to cope with pressure, outdoor conditions and physical and mental challenges, in a supportive environment of their peers and the staff members.

As a natural continuation of the program, Nachson alumni enter their military service more mature and better equipped to handle its challenges. They are more motivated for meaningful service in the IDF and especially in influential roles, such as command and officership, education and training.
