The Nachshon association
The association was founded in 1997 by a group of people who saw Israeli society as being at a low point and decided to act.
Two years after the murder of the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, it seemed that our society had reached the brink of the abyss. That group of people, most of whom had served together in the army and in the reserves, realized that young people have the power to create change, reestablish fitting leadership and develop a healthy and just Israeli society. They decided to establish a framework that would inspire young people and prepare them to take an active and leading part in building the state of Israel and its society.

The principles that guided the members of the association in deciding on the educational program in Nachshon were:
Emphasis on the process of acquiring knowledge, not on achievement (there are no exams)
Exposure to areas of knowledge and culture as a means of investigating ideas
Humility, responsibility, mutual help and commitment
Behaving as role-models: management, counselors, lecturers and participants
A total absence of the influence of any political line
Nurturing a learning partnership and social experience
Empowering individual strengths and abilities with the aim of consolidating a personal and group identity and values
A process of tempering and preparing for the army and developing leadership ability, with the aim of strengthening the individual and their ability to contribute to the whole
Getting to know cultural groups and sectors, nurturing a feeling of respect and belonging towards others by creating a bridge of understanding, dialogue and trust
Due to a sense of social duty and national necessity, the association's members invest time and money in the project. The members represent a wide cross section of society in their opinions, ages, and their occupations as educators, business people, students and holders of senior positions in the defense system. Nachshon is a nonprofit association (Registered Amuta 58029908) recognized by the authorities (Ministry of the Interior, Registrar of Amutot (non-profit associations), Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Defense). The head of the association is Daniel Limor, holder of various positions in the Ministry of Defense in the past and present.
